Optidrive E3 IP66: Decentralised Drive Control Directly at the Machine
Variable frequency drives do not always need to be installed in a control cabinet. Where speed control is required directly at a machine or process plant, a decentralised solution can be an attractive option. The IP66 version of the Optidrive E3 from Invertek Drives combines a protected enclosure with versatile speed control functions.

A decentralised approach suited to the application
Whether installation at the machine is appropriate depends on the individual plant. Available mounting space, access for operation and maintenance, and environmental conditions are among the key considerations. For new installations, this approach can be considered from the planning stage. For retrofit projects, it is worth assessing how speed control can be integrated into the existing installation.
Robust enclosure and built-in communication
The Optidrive E3 is available in an IP66 version for applications requiring a higher level of enclosure protection. Modbus RTU and CANopen are built in, allowing communication with a supervisory controller to be considered during system design. Installation must follow the requirements specified by the manufacturer for the selected version.

For industrial applications, pumps and fans, selection starts with the required function: Which speeds are needed? How does the load change during operation? How should the machine be operated and integrated into the control system? Motor voltage, motor current, installation layout and environmental conditions are also part of the technical assessment.
